Welcome

Welcome to the website for this year's Llandeilofawr Festival of Music and Flowers which takes place between the 12th and 19th July. The festival is now in it's 8th year, and continues to go from strength to strength, offering an exciting variety of artistes in concert from both the classical and jazz worlds.

Plans for the 2008 Festival are well in hand, and Llandeilo will welcome, amongst others, the renowned King’s Singers (who are making an exclusive tour of Britain to mark their 40th. anniversary) the much-loved operatic baritone, Sir Thomas Allen, one of the world’s foremost piano duos, Nettle and Markham, and the former Royal Harpist to the Prince of Wales, Catrin Finch. Once again this year Llandeilo will become a magnet for music-lovers of all sorts, who will be able to choose from a tempting array of coffee, lunch-time and evening recitals both in St.Teilo’s church (with its splendid acoustics) and in some of the other venues which this charming town can boast of.

At a glittering ceremony on Monday 10 March the Artistic Director of the Llandeilo Music and Flower Festival, Julia Jones, was named “Woman of the Year - Arts and Culture” for her role in promoting Welsh culture and heritage. The event, which was held in Trimsaran Leisure Centre, was to mark International Women’s Day in Carmarthenshire, and was organised by Carmarthenshire County Council. The presentation was made by the BBC’s former Royal Correspondent, Jennie Bond. The judges awarded the title to Julia for her work in founding and organising the Festival, which has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2001, making Llandeilo (and Carmarthenshire) an increasingly recognised mecca for the performing arts.
